SheetsTracker — Construction Profitability Tracker

Built to replace a Google Apps Script and Excel workflow without forcing a rewrite of the spreadsheets themselves. Imports workbooks, preserves formulas and their dependency graph, recalculates automatically, and surfaces project margin as a live dashboard.

Case Study

Overview

A construction project profitability tracker that ingests existing Excel workbooks rather than replacing them, keeping formulas intact so the numbers stay recognizable to the people who built them.

The Challenge

Construction cost tracking lives in deeply nested spreadsheets that the business genuinely depends on. Any migration that breaks the formulas gets rejected on day one.

The Solution

Drag-and-drop workbook import with template detection, formula preservation via an explicit dependency graph, and automatic recalculation. A live dashboard classifies each project by margin band and raises alerts for over-billing, exceeded contracts, and negative profit.
